Do you need COVID-19 information for U.S. citizens in Panama?

Get up-to-date information on the Coronavirus changing situation, its restrictions and requirements for U.S. citizens in Panama.


If you are overseas and your passport expired on or after January 1, 2020, you may be able to use your expired passport to return directly to the United States until March 31, 2022.   Please see the Department of State website  for additional information.

If you require a new passport, a renewal passport, or just aren’t sure, our simple Passport Wizard will assist you in determining your eligibility and gathering the documentation needed to apply.

There is no walk-in service for United States citizens who require a service related to passports, citizenship, or birth registration. These services are by appointment only. (except for Adult Passport Renewal that is by mail only, unless you don’t meet the requirements of this service).

Passport services are not available on weekends, or on Panama or U.S. Holidays.

The processing time for routine passport renewals is six to ten weeks. If you are traveling within the next ten weeks, please see Emergency Passports for further information.

Passport and Passport Card Pick up

If you applied for your passport/card at the Embassy: Please pick up your new passport/card at the American Citizen Services (ACS) Unit of the Consular Section. Hours of operation for passport pick up are Monday through Wednesday at 2 p.m. Please go to Window 14 and wait until the last person in line is served. Please note that passports will not be delivered before 2 p.m. due to the high number of consular services.
