7th High-Level Security Dialogue between Panama and the United States Joint Statement

DECLARATION

Within the framework of the 7th High-Level Security Dialogue, the governments of the Republic of Panama (“Panama”) and the United States of America (“United States”) met to reinforce their continued mutual commitment to advance bilateral security cooperation in key strategic initiatives as well as projects in four pillars: Border Security, Citizen Security, Cyber Security, and Maritime Security. 

Panama and the United States agreed to form a bilateral working group focused on improving the capabilities of Panamanian institutions related to law enforcement in the maritime sector.  The United States also reiterated its commitment to support Panama’s efforts to establish a Maritime Security Committee. 

7th High-Level Security Dialogue between Panama and the United States

Panama and the United States agreed to advance bilateral strategic initiatives to support Panamanian security institutions, through the implementation of bilateral strategic planning initiatives.

Both countries also agreed to form a Working Group to promote bilateral efforts to promote human rights initiatives and provide a forum for bilateral cooperation to combat trafficking in persons.  

Panama and the United States reiterated their commitment to continue advancing bilateral cooperation efforts under the auspices of the security dialogue framework in order to ensure the safety and welfare of their citizens.
